On November 26, 2024, the BetterStories team proudly participated in the highly anticipated IMM Booster Workshop, organized by Roots of Impact under the Biniyog Briddhi program. Held at the Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka, the event brought together certified service providers preparing for the upcoming Voucher Scheme(VS) program.
The workshop was led by Melanie Rodriguez Siow, an Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) mentor whose expertise has been instrumental in shaping the IMM capabilities of Service Providers like BetterStories.
The workshop began with an introduction to the day's agenda, setting the tone for a day filled with insightful and engaging sessions. There were various team activities throughout the day. The core objective was to strengthen participants’ IMM knowledge and skills, particularly in areas critical to impact data collection and analysis. The session titled "Turning Indicator Statements into Data Points" offered a comprehensive understanding of how to translate qualitative objectives into measurable outcomes. This was followed by "Survey Best Practices," which highlighted effective methods for designing surveys that yield reliable and actionable data. After a short break, the workshop transitioned to an interactive segment on "Customer Touchpoint Journey to Data Collection," emphasizing practical strategies for gathering data at various stages of customer interaction. The day came to an end with a session on developing data collection plans, ensuring participants were equipped with actionable strategies to implement in their respective organizations.
BetterStories’ involvement in this workshop was not limited to passive participation. The team engaged in group work and collaborative exercises, benefitting from Melanie’s in-person guidance. A unique feature of the workshop was the inclusion of peer review exercises, which allowed participants to critically evaluate each other’s work and gain fresh perspectives.
Beyond the technical knowledge and skills, the workshop also served as a platform for expanding networks and building relationships with like-minded organizations. The lunch and networking session that concluded the event provided an informal setting for meaningful conversations and potential collaborations. For BetterStories, the day was not only an opportunity to enhance technical skills but also to reaffirm its commitment to cultivating impactful change in Bangladesh’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Participating in the IMM Booster Workshop was a testament to BetterStories’ dedication to staying at the forefront of impact measurement and management practices.
